9th August 2023

Refurbishment and Extension work to "The Hub" Community Centre in Thurnby has commenced

Work has begun on the major refurbishment and extension to the unused and outdated Manor Field Pavilion Community Centre, "The Hub" in Thurnby, by Leicester based contractor's Brown and Shaw (Builders) Limited. This Leicestershire village’s dream of a new community centre is being supported by funding of £250,000 from the Government's Levelling Up's Community Ownership Fund.

The Levelling Up fund has supported many community projects across the UK and will be allocating £4.8 billion in total around the UK. Funding helps community groups protect important local landmarks like pubs, sports clubs and community hubs such as this centre in Thurnby.

The pavilion building was constructed in the early 1990's by Harborough District Council and has served the local area providing a community space along with sports changing facilities. The long awaited refurbishment of "The Hub" will provide an updated modern building for the community's future needs. The new extension will also provide a bright and airy welcoming cafe.

Archangel Limited of Cambridge were appointed as the project architects for their design and planning services.

ADM have completed pre contract quantity surveying services which included the preparation of bills of quantities and tender process resulting in Brown and Shaw's appointment as the main contractor. Post quantity surveying services will include formal site meetings, certificates for payment and agreement of the final account with the main contractor.
