Houghton Pavilion is an important community facility in Houghton on the Hill, providing space for local activities alongside sports changing facilities. Replacing the existing building was an ambitious undertaking for Houghton Field Association, a small charity run by local volunteers.
ADM Surveyors was appointed to provide quantity surveying services, supporting the trustees with the financial and contractual aspects of the project. During the pre-contract stage, Sam Kenyon guided the association through the tender process, preparing and distributing tender documents and producing a tender assessment report to help the trustees select a preferred contractor within the available budget.
When the original architect withdrew shortly after the final funding had been secured, ADM stepped in to undertake contract administration and provide architectural support. This helped the project move forward at a critical stage.
Throughout construction, ADM worked closely with the association and the main contractor, providing post-contract quantity surveying and contract administration services. Sam Kenyon and Tom Riozzi supported the trustees in resolving challenges as they arose, with a continued focus on costs, progress and contractual matters.
The pavilion was handed over in March 2026 and delivered within budget, although the construction programme extended beyond the original estimate. The completed building now accommodates a wide range of community activities, providing a valued space for local groups, residents and sports users.
“The building has received many positive comments and is being used for a wide range of activities by the community. The input of ADM surveyors was undoubtedly crucial to the success of the project.”
