ADM Provides Project Coordination and Quantity Surveying for Award Winning Sustainable Home in Rutland

Client Private Owner

Winner of the ProCon Sustainability Award in 2015, Whitwell House is a fabulous example of sustainable construction. The innovative design features an array of energy efficient features and was the first Passivhaus certified project in Leicestershire.

Located in the conservation area of Whitwell village on the north shore of Rutland Water, the spacious detached family house was designed by the home owner and architect, to replace an existing dwelling which was demolished prior to construction.

ADM was appointed to provide Project Coordination and act as Quantity Surveyor on this innovative new build, forming part of a team of consultants, contractors and suppliers drawn almost entirely from Leicestershire and Rutland.

The sustainable home is constructed from timber frame and has high levels of insulation, including a layer of recycled newspaper. It is highly sustainable with a host of renewable energy features including photovoltaic array and solar thermal panels, large windows designed for solar gain and rainwater harvesting system.

ADM Surveyors were introduced to me by a colleague when I moved to Rutland and set about building a family house to meet the super insulated and air-tight Passivhaus energy standard. ADM provided cost control services during the design stages and acted as the contract administrator during construction. They recommended contractors for the project and dealt with variations along the way, resolving the inevitable differences between client and contractor calmly and efficiently. ADM Surveyors are a professional and trustworthy firm and friendly with it! The house went on to win the ProCon Sustainability Award 2015 a fitting tribute to the efforts of the project team
